Weaning Tips: Introducing your baby to food & our go-to recipes
Introducing your little one to food for the first time (particularly for first time Mum’s) can sometimes be a little daunting. Just remember that you can do it and we can help! Here are a few tips to get you started and a few recipe ideas to start you off.
You can’t go wrong if you always remember:
The foods you feed your baby should be nutrient-dense, to help your little one grow.
- Avoid Acidic foods & Sweeteners
- Be aware that food allergies are on the rise – ask your doctor about these!
- Have bibs and muslins cloths handy for keeping clothes clean (yours and theirs) and for wiping up spills.
- Most of all, don’t forget to have fun.
The key is to introduce foods slowly and one at a time at first. It's also best to puree foods in the beginning to avoid choking.
We recommend starting with plain foods such as Avocado, Banana’s & Sweet Potato, this makes it easier for you to define which flavours your baby likes & dislikes.
As time goes on, you may want to introduce your little one to more adventurous flavours and here's a few ideas to get your creative juices flowing…
Recipe 1 - Spiced Apple Puree.
Add a little surprise with Nutmeg and Cinnamon to spice up apple fruit puree & to tickle your baby's taste buds.
